As a new parent, nothing is more important than the health and well being of your baby. When it comes to feeding your newborn, you want to be sure that they are only ingesting foods that are all natural and free of preservatives and other additives. When your baby is sound asleep in their crib, you don’t want to be worrying about what’s going on in his or her tummy. Why feed your baby store bought baby food with questionable ingredients, when you can quickly and easily create higher quality food yourself? By making your own baby food at home, you can rest assured that only the freshest and safest organic ingredients are being used.

Making your own baby food is easy. All you need are fresh organic ingredients, an appliance to puree the food, and a little time. Blenders and food processors are well suited to puree your baby food ingredients. Most kitchens already have blenders readily available, but if you don’t have a mixer already, consider a processor specifically designed to blend baby food. These baby blenders have different settings, so that you may easily alter the consistency of your baby’s food as they gradually make the move towards solid foods.

Next, you will need fresh organic ingredients including produce, meat, and grains. You should use only the freshest organic ingredients when possible, but if that is not an option then organic frozen foods will also do the trick. If you use fresh ingredients, be sure to use them within 2-3 days of your purchase to avoid spoilage. While most fruits and vegetables are good for your baby, try to avoid produce like broccoli and corn. Both ingredients can be difficult for an infant to digest during the early stages of his or her life.

Before you begin mixing the ingredients, you should always cook your foods to help make them softer. Consider baking foods, as boiling can remove vitamins and minerals that would be beneficial for your baby. For produce, remove all pits, seeds, or peels before pureeing. For meats, remove the skin and fat before cooking. When preparing rice, pasta, and other grains; cook according to package directions. You can experiment with different food combinations or mimic popular baby food recipes with your own ingredients.

When you make your own food for your baby, you have the peace of mind of knowing that he or she is being nourished by only the freshest organic foods. Starting your baby on a healthy diet from day one will help give them a head start at a healthy lifestyle. You’ll know your baby will be eating healthy from the minute they wake up in the morning to when you tuck them into their cribs at night.
